Optimizing Photos

By on October 22, 2018

Optimizing photos is more important than ever since large photos are a big factor in slowing down your site. And page load speed is an important factor to Google.

Here are some directions that will help you optimize and reduce your photos:

  1. First, check the dpi and change it to 72 if it isn’t already. Very important.
  2. From there, change the dimensions to exactly the size you need according to the specs given to you by your developer.
  3. Next, optimize the image by going to File > Save for Web if you have a program that allows you to do that. If not, use one of these two programs will help to shrink your image files (it reduces the file size without changing the dimensions):

If you don’t have an image editing software, GIMP is one of the best free photo editing software programs: https://www.gimp.org/downloads/.
